Recalling Azam Khan's "attacks", Jaya Prada breaks down at rally
What's the story
Actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada got emotional on Wednesday while addressing the crowd in Rampur of Uttar Pradesh.
Jaya, who has represented the constituency in the past, said she didn't want to leave it but was driven away by Azam Khan, who is a senior leader of Samajwadi Party.
As Jaya fought her tears, the crowd cheered, "Jaya Prada ji sangharsh karo, hum aapke saath hai."

Jaya and Rampur go way back
Jaya, who started her political career with TDP, fought from Rampur on an SP ticket in 2004 and 2009, winning both times.
During her first bid in Rampur, Azam even campaigned for Jaya. But five years later, cracks appeared in their bond.
Despite Azam's sexist remarks, Jaya won the elections in 2009, only to be expelled from SP in 2010 for "anti-party" activities.

Jaya joined BJP and was fielded from Rampur
In 2014, Jaya fought from Bijnor on RLD ticket but lost. She joined BJP a few days ago and was fielded from Rampur. Interestingly, SP has given a ticket to Azam from the constituency.
Jaya kick-started her campaign earlier this week and filed nomination after offering prayers at a local temple.
About her homecoming, Jaya said threats led to her exit from Rampur.

They tried to attack me with acid: Jaya
"I left Rampur and active politics because they tried to attack me with acid. For the first time, I have the strength of the BJP behind me. I don't want to cry like before. I have the right to live, and I will, to serve you," Jaya said.

Battle
Rampur to witness intense battle this time
Jaya also thanked BJP for giving her the "perfect" birthday gift. The veteran actress turned 57 on Wednesday, April 3, and she vowed to serve the people of the constituency.
Azam and Jaya have traded barbs in the past and it won't be surprising if the war of words intensifies in the upcoming days.
Rampur will cast votes on April 23.
