Nehru's 60th death anniversary: Modi's homage to country's 1st PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tribute to the country's first PM, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 60th death anniversary. In a post on X, PM Modi stated, "I pay homage to former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his death anniversary." The Congress also honored Nehru's legacy with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge declaring that the country's history is incomplete without the incomparable contribution of "the architect of modern India."
Floral tributes paid at Nehru's memorial 'Shantivan'
Kharge, along with former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, paid floral tributes at Nehru's memorial "Shantivan." In a post in Hindi, Kharge acknowledged Nehru's significant contributions in scientific, economic, industrial and various other fields. He described Nehru as a dedicated guardian of democracy and a source of inspiration. "Our humble tribute to 'Hind ke Jawahar' on his death anniversary," Kharge said.

Nehru's vision of unity and equality remembered
Kharge quoted Nehru as saying, "We may follow different religions, live in different states, speak different languages, but that should not create any wall between us. All people should get equal opportunity...We do not want some people in our country to be very rich and most of the people to be poor." Kharge added that the Congress continues to follow this path of justice.
Rahul Gandhi pays tribute to great grandfather Nehru
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also paid tribute to his great grandfather. In a post in Hindi, he praised Nehru as a visionary who dedicated his life to building India through the freedom movement, establishing democracy and secularism, and laying the foundation of the Constitution. "His values will always guide us," Rahul said in his post.
