5 times when Modi's PR machinery overworked
It's widely known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a knack for photo-ops, roadshows and breaking security protocol. Apparently, PR is the most slaving agency of the Prime Minister's office, which works round-the-clock, planning its next stunt. Amid the hyperactive sloganeering, catchy phrases and non-stop speeches, here are top 5 moments when his PR machinery simply forgot to draw the line.
Inaugurating the incomplete Delhi-Meerut Expressway
PM Modi held a massive roadshow while inaugurating the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. A frequent commuter from Delhi to Meerut would know that the highly celebrated Expressway is far from completion, but that didn't prevent our PM from what appeared to be a publicity stunt. With 'fans' running behind his caravan and him waving at them, the inauguration seemed more of a favor than a launch.
Adventure on India's 'first' seaplane
During the heightened Gujarat elections, PM Modi threw all Z+ security protocols in the bin. Going against the prescribed norms, he flew in a single-engine plane, while his website claimed, "PM becomes the (first) passenger of India's first ever seaplane," which was untrue. The uproar was a typical 'Modi-fied' component, one that prompted LK Advani to call our PM a "brilliant events manager."
Publicity worth Rs. 4,300+ crore
The BJP government has been at the forefront on condemning Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's publicity expenses, but ironically it's peanuts compared to that of Modi government. Within four and a half years of being in power, the government has spent Rs.4,300+ crore only on publicity. To put it in perspective, government expenditure on 'Modicare' initiative is roughly Rs. 4,000 crore.
The binocular eyes of our PM
No doubt our 'pradhansevak' is an inspiring leader, but sometimes his inspired fans end up doing bizarre things. During the Chennai floods in 2015, the Press Information Bureau website posted a photoshopped image of the PM during an aerial survey. The image became a laughing stock and the PIB, acknowledging the goof-up, deleted it soon after.

The Modi suit
The Modi suit was undoubtedly the most controversial event in Modi's Prime Ministership. Modi wore the bandhgala suit with his name on it during a meeting with former US President Barack Obama. The Opposition called him a narcissist, while the Internet went berserk and mocked him. In a bid to control the damage, the suit was later auctioned for a record Rs. 4.31 crore.
