Grand celebrations planned for Modi's birthday
PM Narendra Modi turns 67 today. The Centre plans to observe this day as "Seva Diwas" (Day of Service). Various activities have been planned for the "big day" including construction of toilets, voluntary work and sanitation drives. Though there are no official celebrations, events have been strategically planned around his birthday. Read on to find out how India will celebrate Modi's birthday!
In UP, school children will learn about Modi's vision
BJP has 311 MLAs in UP's 403-member Assembly. There will be unique celebrations as each MLA will visit one school where they will distribute sweets and check facilities. They will address students about Modi's vision, his life and his public welfare schemes. Free medical camps, lighting events at the ghats and a 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' cultural program in Varanasi have also been planned.
Elsewhere, supporters will attempt world records and take loyalty pledges!
Exclusive events have been planned to celebrate Modi's birthday. In Ahmedabad, Prakash Gurjar, a BJP Yuva Morcha member, has been distributing pamphlets in Ahmedabad termed the "Sankalp Patra." It has few pledges: one is to "not prejudicially criticize the administration." Maan Mohan Agarwal, an ardent Modi fan, is attempting a world record by displaying two lakh photographs of Modi at a Jaipur city mall.
Kurnool farmers will mark the day with an innovative protest
On the occasion, farmers of AP's Kurnool district have sent Modi cheques of 68 paise on his birthday indicating the region's continuous neglect. Though this region has major rivers like Krishna and Penna, lack of irrigation infrastructure has led to perennial drought in the region.
A day dedicated to Swachh Bharat 3.0
On Modi's birthday, union ministers and paramilitary services have been urged to participate enthusiastically in the fortnight-long drive "Swachhta Hi Seva" campaign that President Ram Nath Kovind launched in Kanpur. The campaign focuses on cleaning public and tourist places. Considering the theme, Akshay Kumar-starrer "Toilet-Ek Prem Katha," which is against open defecation will be telecast on Doordarshan. Gram panchayats will also organize screenings.
Meanwhile, what will Modi himself be doing on his birthday?
Modi is likely to begin his day by taking his mother's blessings, as is his yearly ritual. Later in the day, he will inaugurate the recently-raised Sardar Sarovar Dam at Kevadia in the presence of BJP leaders and religious leaders. He will also address people. On the day, he will begin BJP's Gujarat poll campaign by holding a public meeting at Dabhoi, Vadodara.
