'Hitler's gas chamber...': Sanjay Singh attacks BJP over Kejriwal's arrest
Recently released from jail, the Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to emotionally undermine Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Singh alleges that Tihar authorities have threatened to restrict Kejriwal's family visits due to a message relayed to AAP MLAs via his legal team. He questioned if the BJP aims to turn Tihar Jail into something resembling Adolf Hitler's "gas chambers."
Singh claims message to MLAs triggered inquiry
"The Modi government is intent on keeping an elected chief minister of Delhi in jail," declared Singh. He stated that Kejriwal had recently met with his lawyer and during this meeting, he conveyed a message urging elected MLAs to engage with their constituents and address their concerns. According to Singh, this message alone has triggered an inquiry against Kejriwal, accompanied by threats of barring him from meeting his family and lawyers.
Singh expresses confidence in Kejriwal's resilience
Singh, who spent several months in jail due to his alleged involvement in a money-laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy case, expressed confidence that Kejriwal will not yield to pressure. He asserted, "Do you (BJP) want to turn Delhi's Tihar Jail into Hitler's gas chamber? Why can't a CM send a message to his MLAs...asking them to listen...resolve the problems of people of Delhi? You want to break Arvind Kejriwal emotionally...These attempts won't succeed, and Kejriwal won't break."
AAP insists Kejriwal will continue duties from jail
Despite the BJP's call for Kejriwal's resignation on moral grounds, the AAP insists that he will continue his duties as chief minister from jail as he has not been found guilty of any crime. Singh cautioned that if Kejriwal were to resign, it could set a dangerous precedent for other non-BJP chief ministers. Notably, Kejriwal is the first sitting CM to be arrested by a federal agency.
BJP demands Kejriwal's resignation amid protests
BJP supporters have been protesting in the national capital, demanding Kejriwal's resignation. BJP leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri stated, "Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal should resign from the position of CM, a government cannot be run from jail as the protocols of jail do not allow that." "If Arvind Kejriwal does not send his resignation letter, then the law will take its own course," he added.
