PM Modi in Kerala: LDF govt's stance on Sabarimala 'shameful'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hit out at the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala over the Sabarimala issue, calling the LDF's stand "shameful". After arriving in Kerala, PM Modi inaugurated the Kollam bypass
Following his short visit to Odisha, PM Modi arrived at Kollam on Tuesday afternoon. He began his Kerala visit by inaugurating the 13km Kollam bypass to ease traffic volume in the area, which he claimed had been delayed for 43 years. PM Modi criticized the slow progress of many public projects, and said that he had accelerated several projects under the PRAGATI initiative.
PM Modi accused Opposition parties of corruption and communalism
He then turned his attention to Opposition parties, saying that while the NDA government at the Center was working day and night for the people of Kerala, the Left government and the Congress was fostering a culture of corruption and communalism in the state. PM Modi added that the tranquility and spirituality of Kerala had been destroyed the LDF and UDF.
What PM Modi had to say about the Sabarimala issue
Speaking on the Sabarimala issue, PM Modi hit out at the LDF government's stance on the issue. PM Modi said that Communists did not respect Indian history, culture, and spirituality, and the LDF's stand on the Sabarimala issue completely ignored people's sentiments. He added that the LDF's stance would go down as "one of the most shameful" behaviors by any party or government in history.
PM Modi says Congress, Left opposed to women empowerment
He further accused the Congress and the Left of opposing the Centre's stance on the triple talaq issue, saying that these two parties were opposed to ending injustice against women. PM Modi also touted the recent passing of bill allowing 10% reservations for economically weak sections of the general category. The Prime Minister is now slated to visit Thiruvananthapuram where he will inaugurate the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
