#RajasthanElections: Modi says Congress gave Kartarpur to Pak in 1947

    What's the story

Kicking off the last leg of the election campaign in poll-bound Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched an attack on the Congress while addressing a massive rally in Hanumangarh.

Starting off his speech by sending greetings to the Indian Navy on Navy day, PM Modi said that the 70-year-wait for the opening of the Kartarpur corridor was resultant of Congress' mistakes.

    Here's more.

    Kartarpur

Congress' lack of vision led to Kartarpur going to Pakistan

Attacking the Congress over the Kartarpur issue, PM Modi says it was the combined lack of vision sensitivity among Congress leaders that resulted in Kartarpur going to Pakistan in 1947.

He said that it was the BJP government which had opened up access to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, the final resting place of Guru Nanak, and it would not have been possible without the people who voted for BJP.

    Quote

Modi: Correcting Congress' mistakes is my destiny

"Holy work of Kartarpur corridor came to me. Congress will have to answer why this was not done in last 70 years. Credit of Kartarpur corridor goes to your vote and correcting Congress mistakes was my destiny," said PM Modi.

    Farmers

Congress responsible for farmers' distress, says Modi

Continuing his attack on the Congress, PM Modi said that farmers should never place trust on the Congress' false promises.

Modi explained that it was the Congress policies that had led to the agrarian crisis, and that farmers today are languishing because of four-generations of Congress rule.

He added that his government was helping farmers to modernize agriculture.

    Quote

Congress never had an understanding of land and farmers

"The four generations of [the Nehru-Gandhi] family who do not have an understanding of land and farmers, made policies that destroyed the farmers instead," said PM Modi, while talking about farmers' distress.

    Pakistan

Modi says his government gave a fitting reply to Pakistan

Speaking on Pakistan and terrorism, Modi said that it was his government that had given a fitting reply to Pakistan, referring to the surgical strikes of 2016.

Modi said that the strikes demonstrated the Indian Army's strength, and that they would not have been possible without the people who voted the BJP to power.
