'Job, ₹4cr or plot': Haryana government's offer to Vinesh Phogat
What's the story
The Haryana government has offered three options to star wrestler and Congress MLA, Vinesh Phogat.
She can either choose a cash award of ₹ 4 crore, a "Group A" government job, or a plot under Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP).
The offer came during a state Cabinet meeting chaired by CM Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday.
Till now, Phogat has not reacted publicly to the offers.
Reasoning
CM Saini explains the rationale behind the offer
CM Saini clarified that since Phogat is now an MLA, they decided to offer her these options.
"Since Vinesh Phogat is now an MLA, the government has decided to ask her which benefits she would like to avail."
The CM further added that such benefits are usually given to sportspersons who win a silver medal under Haryana's sports policy.
Special case
Special consideration for Phogat's achievements
CM Saini also explained the decision: "Vinesh Phogat had raised this issue in the Vidhan Sabha. In today's cabinet meeting, her issue was treated as a special case and considered for grant of benefits under the sports policy."
Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics due to a procedural decision.
At that time, Saini tweeted that he would not allow the honor of Haryana's pride, Phogat, to be diminished.
