Haryana: Congress promises legal MSP, ₹6,000 pension in 7 guarantees
The Congress has announced seven key guarantees ahead of the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. These include a legal assurance for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and a caste survey. As part of its social security plan, the party has also pledged to reintroduce the old pension scheme with a monthly payout of ₹6,000 for senior citizens, disabled people, and widows.
Congress's promises on electricity, healthcare and agriculture
The Congress has also committed to providing 300 units of free electricity to households and free medical treatment up to ₹25 lakh. In the agricultural sector, the party plans to introduce a legal guarantee for MSP, addressing a longstanding demand from farmers nationwide. Additionally, it has promised to conduct a caste survey and increase the income limit for the creamy layer from ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
Congress's commitments to women, youth and the poor
Furthering its commitment to women's empowerment, the Congress has pledged to provide women aged 18-60 years with a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 and subsidized LPG cylinders at ₹500. For the youth, it plans to fill two lakh vacant positions and launch a drug-free campaign. The party has also promised to provide a 100-yard plot and a two-room house costing ₹3.5 lakh for the underprivileged.
'Saat Vaade, Pakke Irade': Congress's election campaign
The guarantees were unveiled by top Congress leaders including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, general secretary KC Venugopal, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan. Kharge stated at a press conference that these guarantees would be implemented under the campaign 'Saat Vaade, Pakke Irade.' He also mentioned a detailed 53-page manifesto to be released later in Chandigarh but emphasized that these seven promises would definitely be fulfilled by the party.
Congress's gameplan for Haryana polls
The Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled for October 5, with vote counting set to take place on October 8. This election comes at a critical juncture for the Congress, which has been struggling to maintain its political influence in the state in recent years. The party is hoping that these seven key guarantees will resonate with voters and help them regain their footing in Haryana's political landscape.
