PM Modi: Pandit Nehru was against building Somnath temple
With Gujarat elections approaching, PM Modi is on a roll; he addressed back-to-back rallies at Morbi, Prachi, Palitana and Navsari. At Prachi, near Somnath temple, Modi took a jibe at Rahul, who was also visiting the temple. He said Somnath wouldn't have been possible without Sardar Patel. He claimed the then PM Jawaharlal Nehru was against building the temple. What else did Modi say?
Modi accuses Congress of inaction and hypocrisy
Modi accused Congress of ignoring One Rank One Pension (OROP). He asked what Congress had against the army; why didn't they address the issue for 40 years. When elections were approaching, they misled the public by announcing Rs. 500cr, when actual demand was much high. He said Congress is seeking OBC votes but didn't allow the OBC Commission to get constitutional status.
Modi highlighted his plans for India
Referring to claims that Congress has been mocking Modi for being a tea-seller, he stressed that the BJP government at Center works for the poor. He claimed that "Our Sagarmala and Bharatmala project will transform the coastal economy and benefit people living on our coasts." He said his goals are to ensure education for children, employment for youth and health care for elderly.
'Water shortage was due to Congress-controlled tanker business"
Modi again addressed the issue of water shortage in the region. He said water shortage was because of the Congress-controlled tanker business. The BJP changed this by making the tanker industry irrelevant.
'We have legacy of "fakir" Mahatma Gandhi, Congress of royalty'
Attacking the Congress, Modi said "Congress hates development, Gujarat, Modi and now sweat also. That is because they never had to sweat it out in life and work hard. They mock everyone who works hard. Such hatred for the poor is shocking." Referring to Mahatma Gandhi, who was born in Gujarat, Modi declared "We have the legacy of Fakir Gandhi and Congress of royalty."
Modi calls Rahul's "version" of GST "grand stupid thought"
Modi slammed Rahul for referring to GST as "Gabbar Singh Tax." He said "When we remember people, we remember Mahatma Gandhi, Lord Buddha, etc. but they remember Gabbar Singh. What more can I say about their thought process." Earlier, he said those who loot think of dacoits. He further mocked Rahul's idea of keeping GST uniform at 18% as a "grand stupid thought."
PM Modi goads Congress for questioning all his actions
Modi criticized Congress for questioning all his actions. He said it is due to his government's efforts that "the corrupt are languishing in jail." He asked how Congress can ridicule the Swachh Bharat Mission and surgical strikes. Moreover, attacking Rahul's meeting with the Chinese ambassador during Doklam, Modi questioned "Why do you believe the Chinese and not our army and our foreign ministry?"
'Congress will be defeated in Gujarat'
Modi claimed that there are three ongoing elections: UP local-body, Gujarat and Congress president elections. He said in the first two, BJP will surely win. However, in the third, only one family (Gandhis) will win. He claimed that when Congress wanted votes in UP, they referred to Gujaratis as "donkeys." He added that Congress is consumed by its hatred for Gujarat.
