    The Forbes '100 Most Powerful Women' in the world list 2016, topped by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, includes PepsiCo Chief Indra Nooyi.

    Four Indian women, including SBI Managing director Arundhati Bhattacharya and ICICI Bank Managing director Chanda Kochhar, are in the new list of Forbes' world's 100 most powerful women.

    Mazumdar-Shaw,MD,biocon and Shobhana Bhartia, the editor of HT media also feature in top 100.

    Forbes is an American business magazine which is published bi-weekly and features articles on finance, industry, investing, and marketing.

    B. C.Forbes, and Walter Drey founded Forbes magazine on 15 September, 1917.

    The magazine is well known for its lists and rankings, including its lists of the richest Americans (the Forbes 400) and rankings of world's top companies (the Forbes Global 2000) etc.

    Forbes 100 most Powerful women list 2016

    Forbes 100 most powerful women's list includes the smartest and toughest female business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, philanthropists and CEOs making their mark on the world today.

    The US dominated the list with 51 women represented, while China was second.

    22 Asian women feature in the 100 most influential women including four from India and two women from the United Arab Emirates.

    Four metrics were used in measuring the 100 Most powerful women. It includes money (net worth/company revenue); media presence; spheres of influence; and impact, analyzed both within the context of each woman's field (politics/media/finance) and outside it.

    Researchers have reacted that the Forbes list concetrates on money and traditional notions of power.

    All the top 10 women are white and 29 out of the top 50 women are white

    Commenting on the list being dominated by white women, Kevin Miller, enior researcher at the American Association of University Women, says "It tells part of the story, but not the whole story".

    Women leaders doubled since 2005

    According to the PEW Research Center,Since 2005,the number of women who are world leaders including presidents or heads of state had more than doubled.In 2015 alone,Taiwan,Myanmar,Nepal,Croatia,Mauritius,India have elected or reelected female leaders to office.
