RTI-query reveals Kejriwal spent Rs. 1 crore on tea, snacks
In his three year tenure, Arvind Kejriwal spent a total of Rs. 1.03 crore on tea and snacks alone, revealed an RTI reply. The amount spent on snacks was Rs. 23.12 lakh, Rs. 46.54 lakh, and Rs. 33.36 lakh, for 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18 respectively. The query filed by Haldwani-based activist Hemant Singh Gauniya also revealed Rs. 11.99 lakh was spent on Kejriwal's travel expenses.
Expenses distributed between Secretariat and camp offices
In 2015-16, out of Rs. 23.12 lakh spent on snacks, Rs. 5.29 lakh was spent in camp office and Rs. 17.53 lakh in Secretariat office. In 2016-17, out of Rs. 46.54 lakh camp office's share was Rs. 30.63 lakh and Secretariat office's Rs. 15.91 lakh. For 2017-18, out of Rs. 33.36 lakh, camp office spent Rs. 26.44 lakh and Secretariat Rs. 6.9 lakh; on tea and snacks.
RTI activist says expenses should be used for greater good
Hemant Singh Gauniya said, "This is an expense which should be controlled and the money should be spent on people who are not in a condition to afford a single meal in a day. I hope the government will cut such expenses for the greater good."
