Delhi Chief Secretary assault case: Discrepancy found in CCTV footage
In a probe on the alleged assault of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by two AAP MLAs, the Delhi Police have found discrepancies in CCTV footage obtained from Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's home where the assault took place. The footage has been sent for forensic examinations to test for tampering. Meanwhile, the Delhi government is also mulling live streaming meetings with officials and ministers.
30min+ discrepancy between claims and CCTV footage
Additional Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandana, while hearing the bail plea of imprisoned AAP MLAs Prakash Jarwal and Amanatulla Khan, was informed of the developments. In the submitted CCTV footage, the entry and exit of the Chief Secretary is between 11:24pm and 11:31pm. This is in contradiction to Kejriwal's advisor VK Jain's statement that the Chief Secretary had arrived past midnight.
The order on bail will given tomorrow
The defense, however, argued that despite the large discrepancy between CCTV timings and claims, the footage had not been tampered with and that the forensic tests would confirm the same. Both the prosecutor, and DCP Herendra Singh have said the Prakash Jarwal has a history of being charged with intimidation and misdemeanor. The court has reserved the order on bail for 2pm on Tuesday.
