#DelhiElections2020: Congress party announces first list of 54 candidates
The Congress party has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The party on Saturday evening announced the names of candidates for 54 of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. The elections are scheduled to take place on February 8. The Congress's announcement comes a day after the BJP released its first list of 57 candidates. Here's more.
Former AAP leader Alka Lamba to contest from Chandni Chowk
The Congress has fielded senior party leader and former Union minister Krishna Tirath from Patel Nagar and former Delhi minister Arvinder Lovely from Gandhi Nagar. Meanwhile, Alka Lamba, the former AAP leader who joined the Congress last year, has been fielded from the Chandni Chowk Assembly Constituency. Former Delhi minister Ashok Kumar Walia will be contesting from the Krishna Nagar constituency.
Kirti Azad's wife, Poonam Azad, to contest from Sangam Vihar
Congress has fielded its Election Campaign Committee Chairman Kirti Azad's wife, Poonam Azad, from Sangam Vihar constituency. Haroon Yusuf will contest from Ballimaran, Mateen Ahmed from Seelampur, Siddharth Kundu from Narela, Amar Lata Sangwan from Timarpur, and Mukesh Goel from Adarsh Nagar. Devender Yadav has been fielded from Badli, Pradeep Kumar Pandey from Rithala, Surender Kumar from Bawana, and Dr. Naresh Kumar from Mundka.
Dev Raj Arora has been fielded from Shakur Basti
Congress leader Jai Kishan will contest from Sultanpur Majra, Mandeep Singh from Nangloi Jat, Rajesh Lilotia from Mangol Puri, Sumesh Gupta from Rohini, JS Nayol from Shalimarbagh. Dev Raj Arora has been fielded from Shakur Basti, Kamal Kant Sharma from Tri Nagar, Hari Kishan Jindal from Wazirnagar, Akansha Ola from Model Town, Satbir Sharma from Sadar Bazar, and Mirza Javed Ali from Matia Mahal.
Gaurav Dhanak has been fielded from Karol Bagh
Congress has fielded Gaurav Dhanak from Karol Bagh, Ramesh Kumar Popli from Moti Nagar, Amandeep Singh Sudan from Rajouri Garden, Surender Sethi from Hari Nagar, and Radhika Khera from Janakpuri. Adarsh Shastri will contest from Dwarka, Sumesh Shokeen from Matiala, Sahib Singh Yadav from Najafgarh, Sandeep Tanwar from Delhi Cantt., Talvinder Singh Marwah from Jangpura, and Abhishek Dutt from Kasturba Nagar.
Sukhbir Singh Pawar will fight the election from Greater Kailash
Congress has named Neetu Verma as its candidate from Malviya Nagar, Priyanka Singh from RK Puram, Satish Lohia from Chhatarpur, Arvinder Singh from Deoli, and Yaduraj Chaudhary from Ambedkar Nagar. Sukhbir Singh Pawar will fight the election from Greater Kailash, Shivani Chopra from Kalkaji, Shubham Sharma from Tughlakabad, Vijay Kumar from Trilokpuri, Laxman Rawat from Patparganj, and Hari Dutt Sharma from Laxmi Nagar.

Other candidates on Congress's first list include Gurucharan Singh Raju who will contest from Vishwas Nagar, Narender Nath from Shahdara, Veer Singh Dhingan from Seemapuri, Vipin Sharma from Rohtas Nagar, Anveesha Tripathi Jain from Babarpur, Dr. SP Singh from Gokalpur, and Ali Mehndi from Mustafabad.
