What's the story
Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Rakibul Hussain was attacked by a mob in Assam's Nagaon district on Thursday.
The incident occurred when he was on his way to a party meeting at Gunomari village.
His attackers, who had their faces covered with black cloths and wielded cricket bats, raised slogans against him during the attack.

Assailants identified, legal action promised
On Friday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the police have identified those who assaulted Hussain.
He shared the names of 10 accused on social media, assuring that they would face the law.
The list includes Harun of Jamtola, Haresh of Fakoli, Basir of Tamulitup, Kasem Ali of Kawoimari, Rosidul of Kawoimar, Ayub Gunabari, Lutkior of Rail station, Khaleque of Rowmari, Mojibur of Gorematikhowa, and Jahangir of Koachgaon.
Aftermath
MP Hussain unharmed, attends party meeting post-attack
Hussain was left unharmed, but two of his personal security officers (PSOs) were injured.
He was given first aid at a hospital before heading to his scheduled party meeting with enhanced security.
Assam's Director General of Police Harmeet Singh confirmed Hussain was safe and praised the security personnel for their crucial role in rescuing him from the mob attack.

Congress demands probe into security lapse
Meanwhile, the Congress party has demanded an investigation into the security lapse that allowed such an attack to take place.
Debabrata Saikia, Leader of Opposition in the Assam assembly, raised concern over how an MP could be attacked so openly and called for a thorough probe.
The motive behind the attack is still unclear.
