TN cash for MLA sting: Opposition DMK members detained
Opposition DMK leader MK Stalin was detained along with other party members after a ruckus was created in the Tamil Nadu Assembly over the cash for MLAs sting operation. Stalin demanded that the Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led government "should be dissolved." A Times Now and Moon TV sting operation has revealed that AIADMK legislators in Tamil Nadu were bribed by party general secretary VK Sasikala to support Edappadi K. Palaniswami. The expose may have serious ramifications for Palaniswami, who became Chief Minister by defeating the rival O Panneerselvam camp to win a trust vote with the support of 122 AIADMK legislators.
Huge ruckus in TN Assembly over issue
Speaker P. Dhanapal had refused to discuss the alleged cash for MLAs issue saying it was subjudice because it came out in the media and there was no other substantial proof. After this, DMK lawmakers protested the Speaker's statement by showing pamphlets with "MLAs for sale" written on them. Following a stalemate, police evicted the protesting DMK MLAs out of the Assembly.
'This is a murder of democracy' says Stalin after eviction
Stalin told reporters: "Speaker forcibly evicted us from the assembly, this is a murder of democracy. I raised matter in assembly and sought explanation from the 2 MLAs in the sting. Also demanded a CBI probe, but we were evicted."
