3 AAP MLAs held for assaulting woman in Delhi Assembly
At least 3 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs namely Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti and Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh were booked by the Delhi police over the alleged assault of a woman in Assembly premises. The Delhi Police have registered a case against the three on charges of beating and assaulting the unidentified woman.
Woman files complaint against the 3 AAP MLAs
The victimized woman wrote a complaint to the Delhi Police alleging that she was waiting outside the main building of the Assembly as she was not given an entry pass but suddenly Jarnail Singh and Amanatullah Khan came outside and cornered her into a room. Both the MLAs then beat her up. Later, Somnath Bharti also joined in thrashing her, the woman added.
Other AAP members allege 'Vendetta politics' by Centre
AAP leader Sanjay Singh termed the whole issue to be case of "vendetta politics" stating that the Centre had a role to play in it. Taunting the Centre, Singh also said that it was surprising that only 15 AAP members had been arrested as of now. Meanwhile, AAP Delhi unit spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said AAP leaders were treated poorly by Delhi Police.
