AAP plans cabinet reshuffle, Sisodia might lose revenue
With plans to strengthen its base in rural Delhi, the AAP is considering a cabinet reshuffle. The changes are likely to bring Law and Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot to the forefront. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who presently heads several ministries including education and revenue, is likely to be relieved of a few charges. Social welfare minister Rajendra Gautam will probably lose his ministry.
Dy CM Sisodia may lose two departments and get tourism
Other than education and revenue, Sisodia is currently in charge of finance, planning, land and building, vigilance, women and child development, registrar of cooperative societies, and others which aren't allotted to any minister. He is expected to lose the critical revenue ministry, which will go to Gahlot. Sisodia will likely take on tourism from Gautam, who will in turn get the former's cooperative societies.
Satyendra Jain, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain likely to retain potfolios
Gahlot and Gautam had been inducted into the cabinet in May. Gahlot had gotten charge of law, IT and administrative reforms from Sisodia and transport from Satyendra Jain. Gautam was given social welfare, water, and SC/ST. Portfolios of Jain (home, health etc), Gopal Rai (labor, flood and irrigation etc) and Imran Hussain (environment, food and civil supplies etc) are likely to remain unchanged.
Reshuffle comes amid increasing focus on tourism and rural expansion
Apart from its rural expansion plans, the reshuffle is also expected to help AAP with its next agenda of focus: tourism. The party is reportedly planning to emphasize more on the sector to increase Delhi's global visibility. Education and health will continue to remain priorities.
