For exposing 'culprits' who vandalized bungalow, Akhilesh Yadav announces reward
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said he would give Rs. 11 lakh as a reward to anyone who gives information on 'miscreants' who damaged his former bungalow in Lucknow. Yadav claimed the damages done to the 4, Vikramaditya Marg bungalow was a part of the conspiracy. Notably, he had vacated the bungalow on Supreme Court's order in June, this year.
When Yadav vacated bungalow, it was unrecognizable
Yadav was among the six former UP CMs who were asked to vacate their bungalows by the Supreme Court. After much pressure, he did leave, but the residence was found in unrecognizable condition. Reportedly, ACs, imported ceilings, garden lights and bathroom fittings were removed. The all-weather swimming pool was filled with sand. Turkish tiles were broken, switchboards and taps ripped off.
BJP has other conspiracies in mind, said Yadav
Speaking at a function to mark the birth anniversary of socialist leader Janeshwar Mishra, Yadav said lies were being spread about the bungalow he left. He alleged that people went inside the house the night before he vacated it. "The BJP has other conspiracies in mind," Yadav said. Earlier, Yadav brought taps to a press conference to prove his innocence.
Party workers will contribute Rs. 2,000 each for reward: Yadav
"We announce a cash reward of Rs. 11 lakh to whoever would give us the names of those who went inside the bungalow. Our party workers would contribute Rs. 2,000 each and with that, we will pay the reward," Yadav said in the UP capital.
Construction, not sanctioned by PWD, executed at bungalow
The damages done to the bungalow were in tune of Rs. 6 lakh, a report said. PWD, who is authorized to sanction construction in the bungalow, said there was illegal construction too. Reportedly, Rs. 1.74cr, Rs. 1.56cr, Rs. 78.39L, Rs. 56.53L, Rs. 22.92L and Rs. 13.19L were spent on a two-storey guest house, waiting hall, beautification, workers' quarters, generator room, and flooring respectively.
There was no illegal construction, says party spokesperson
Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary showed a map and claimed it was passed by Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) in November 2015, and construction executed by PWD. "This clearly shows that there was no unauthorized construction and that work worth around Rs. 90 lakh was carried out. The government is trying to mislead the people with the help of its officers," Chaudhary insisted.
