Brought my father home in pieces: Priyanka Gandhi
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Valsad, Gujarat, saying she has seen several prime ministers but not one who lies to the people. Her comments were directed at PM Modi's claim that the opposition party wished to redistribute the riches of the people to Muslims and would not even spare women's "mangalsutra."
First PM who lies like this: Vadra
"I have seen many Prime Ministers, and not just from my family. Yes, Indira Gandhi was one of them, she sacrificed her life for this country. Rajiv Gandhi was a Prime Minister too, I brought him home in pieces, he sacrificed his life for his country," Vadra said. In her address to the crowd in Hindi, she stated, "I can say with conviction that this will be the first Prime Minister of the country who lies to you like this."
Vadra questions PM Modi's warning about Congress's intentions
Vadra said the PM is now telling people to be careful, claiming that the Congress will enter with an X-ray machine, inspect what they have, steal their ornaments and mangalsutras, and give them to someone else. "The Prime Minister is saying this. Is it even possible that this can be true? What is his problem with our nyay (justice) manifesto? Is his confidence shaken," she asked.
BJP has a hidden agenda to modify the Constitution: Gandhi
Gandhi further accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of setting a target of 400 seats for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) because it wanted to change the constitution. She claimed that the party conceals its intentions before coming to power, only to execute its plans later. "You must have seen that several BJP leaders, ministers and candidates are saying in various places, that they will change the Constitution," she stated.
'Foreign forces' involved in Congress's election manifesto: Thakur
Meanwhile, BJP leader Anurag Thakur alleged "foreign forces" were involved in formulating the Congress party's election manifesto. "In the Congress manifesto, along with...Congress, hands of foreign forces are also visible who want to give your children's property to Muslims, finish the nation's nuclear weapons, divide the nation on casteism and regionalism," Thakur said. His charge came despite the Election Commission of India (ECI) issuing notice to the BJP over divisive comments made by PM Modi on the Congress's manifesto.
