Police case, uproar in parliament over Yogesh Varshney's comments
A case has been filed against BJP youth wing leader Yogesh Varshney after Trinamool Congress (Aligarh district) President Ramphool Upadhyaya lodged a complaint against his 'behead Mamata' remarks. All parties joined TMC in condemning him. BJP, meanwhile, distanced itself from the comments, saying the WB government was "free to take legal action" against Varshney. The leader has since apologized and withdrawn his remarks.
BJP youth wing leader Yogesh Varshney courts controversy
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leader Yogesh Varshney courted controversy by announcing a bounty of Rs. 11L on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's head. His remarks came after police baton-charged members in a Hanuman Jayanti rally on April 11, who were shouting slogans in praise of Lord Ram. Police attacked the members when they allegedly tried to break barricades.

Saying even Lord Krishna had asked Arjun to kill others for 'dharma', Varshney announced, "The only thought that came to my mind after seeing that video (of baton-charge) was that whoever brings me the severed head of Mamata Banerjee, I will give them Rs. 11L."
