
BJP dominates Haryana civic elections, wins 9 of 10 seats

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has performed spectacularly in the Haryana civic polls, winning nine out of 10 mayoral contests.
BJP candidate Shailja Sachdeva won the Ambala municipal corporation bypoll, defeating Congress's Amisha Chawla by 20,487 votes.
In Karnal, BJP's Renu Bala Gupta won against Congress's Manoj Kumar Wadhwa with a lead of 25,359 votes.
The only setback for the BJP was in Manesar MC, where its candidate, Sunder Lal, lost to independent candidate Dr. Inderjit Yadav.

Independent candidate disrupts BJP's winning streak in Manesar
Yadav defeated BJP's Lal Sarpanch by 2,293 votes, while the Congress nominee was pushed to the fourth position.
In Gurugram, BJP's Raj Rani defeated Congress's Seema Pahuja by a whopping 1,79,000 votes.
Even in former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's home turf of Rohtak, BJP candidate Ramavtar Balmiki won the mayoral election, defeating Congress' Suraj Mal Kiloi.
Ongoing results
Counting continues in other regions as BJP maintains lead
BJP's Parveen Joshi in Faridabad also defeated Congress's Lata Rani with a commendable 3.16 lakh votes.
Counting of votes was underway in Yamunanagar, where BJP's Suman was leading by 47,664 votes over Congress's Kirna Devi.
In Panipat, BJP's Komal Saini continued leading by 1.21 lakh votes over the Congress's Savita Garg.
