BJP demands apology from Rahul Gandhi for 'Bharat Badnaam Yatra'
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson CR Kesavan has demanded an "immediate and unconditional apology" from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his "anti-India" comments during his trip to the United States. Kesavan accused Gandhi of "demeaning India" and labeled his US visit a "Bharat Badnaam Yatra" (India Abuse Trip). He further stated that such actions will "neither be forgotten nor forgiven" by the Indian people.
Kesavan accuses Gandhi of distorting facts
Kesavan also accused Gandhi of being "a compulsive liar who deliberately twisted the truth, distorted facts and fabricated falsehood to try and disgrace, demean and diminish India's prestige and honor abroad." He likened him to a pied piper leading those who advocate actions against India. The BJP leader further criticized Gandhi for acting like a cheerleader for anti-India radicals when abroad, urging him to "stop lying, stop demeaning India" on his foreign trips.
Kesavan demands apology from Gandhi
Kesavan insisted that Gandhi "owes an immediate and unconditional apology to this nation." "You may be a delusional bubble because you have been defeated by the people for the last three Lok Sabha elections but these actions will neither be forgotten nor forgiven by the people," he added. The BJP spokesperson also drew a parallel between Gandhi and 'Shishupala' from Mahabharata, who disrespected Lord Krishna in public, suggesting a similar disregard for India by Gandhi when abroad.
Gandhi criticizes Modi government's handling of China conflict
Gandhi, during a press conference at the prestigious National Press Club in Washington on Tuesday, criticized the Narendra Modi government over its handling of the conflict with China. He reportedly called it a disaster that 4,000 square kilometers of Indian territory is occupied by Chinese troops. "I don't think Modi has handled China well. I think there's no reason Chinese troops should be sitting in our territory," Gandhi was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
We will think of scrapping reservations: Gandhi
In another interaction with students at Georgetown University on Tuesday, Gandhi had stated that the Congress would consider scrapping reservations only when India reaches a "fair place." "When you look at the financial numbers, then tribals get 10 paise out of 100 rupees; Dalits get 5 rupees out of 100 rupees, and OBCs get a similar number. The fact of the matter is that they're not getting participation," Gandhi said.
