Gun-toting BJP MLA expelled for 6 years over viral video
Days after he was seen in a controversial viral video, Uttarakhand BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion was expelled from the party for six years. Champion was earlier suspended from the party for three months, which was later extended for an indefinite period. Last week, Champion was seen in a viral video dancing with assault guns and mouthing expletives at a house party.
BJP expelled Champion over serial public misconduct
Speaking to reporters, BJP media head and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni said that the party has taken cognizance of Champion's serial public misconduct and hence, arrived at the decision to expel him for six years, PTI reported. Champion, who is the Khanpur MLA, was also issued a show-cause notice by state leaders after the video went viral.
"BJP doesn't compromise on principles; Indiscipline cannot be tolerated"
Notably, just last Thursday, Champion's earlier suspension of three months was extended for an indefinite period in a notice issued by state BJP general secretary Anil Goyal, on the instruction of party president Ajay Bhatt. Bhatt had earlier said, "The BJP is a party which does not compromise on principles. Indiscipline by anyone cannot be tolerated."
Champion was earlier suspended for 3 months for threatening journalist
To recall, a video of Champion went viral where he danced with guns to the Karan Arjun song, 'Mujhko Ranaji Maaf Karna,' mouthing expletives. Separately, in April, Champion had challenged Jhabrera BJP MLA Deshraj Karnawal to a wrestling duel after an argument. In another viral video in June, he was seen threatening a journalist and was slapped with a three-month suspension by BJP.
