Haryana BJP expels 8 leaders, including ex-ministers, for 6 years
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled eight of its Haryana leaders after they decided to run for the upcoming state assembly polls as independent candidates. The expelled BJP members include former minister Ranjit Chautala and former MLA Devendra Kadyan. The other six are Zile Ram Sharma, who is contesting from the Assandh seat, former minister Bachan Singh Arya from Safido, Radha Ahlawat from Meham, Naveen Goyal from Gurgaon, and Kehar Singh Rawat from Hathin, and Sandeep Garg from Ladwa.
Shah addressed the issue of rebels
The decision to expel these leaders came after they filed nominations as independents, contesting against leaders of the BJP, including Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The expulsions were announced shortly after senior BJP leaders JP Nadda and Amit Shah led rallies in Haryana on Sunday. During these rallies, Union Home Minister Shah addressed the issue of rebels contesting as independents. He urged voters to only cast their ballots for the lotus symbol, representing BJP.
Opposition Congress facing similar issue
Similarly, the opposition Congress Party is grappling with nine "rebel" leaders, who are contesting against their own chosen candidates in these upcoming polls. State chief Udai Bhan has reached out to senior party leaders, calling for tough action against nine "rebel" leaders for their "anti-party activities." He has recommended expelling Sharda Rathore, Rohita Revri, Satbir Bhana, Rajkumar Valmiki, Kapoor Narwal, Virender Gogdia, Harsh Kumar, Lalit Nagar, and Satbir Ratera.

The Haryana Congress has already removed 13 leaders for "anti-party activities" for six years over their decision to run as independent candidates.
