World record and Dalit votes: Amit Shah's rally hogs limelight
In a bid to attract Dalit voters, Bharatiya Janata Party will be cooking over 5,000 kg of khichdi at a rally in New Delhi on Sunday. Amit Shah will address the gathering. The lentils and rice for this dish have been collected from over 3 lakh Dalit households. Called the Bhim Mahasangam Vijay Sankalp rally, the event will take place at Ramlila Maidan.
The khichdi will be cooked in special utensil
The khichdi will be cooked in a huge utensil. Delhi BJP SC Morcha President Mohanlal Gihara said, "A specially designed vat, measuring 20 feet in diameter and six feet in depth, will be used to cook the khichdi with ingredients like rice, pulses, salt, and water." Later the khichdi will be distributed among party workers and attendees of the rally.
The chef attempted a world record once
For cooking the khichdi, BJP has invited Nagpur based chef Vishnu Manohar. Last year he attempted to cook 3,000 kg of khichdi in a single vessel, in hope of setting a world record. Notably, in 2017 renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor scripted history. Kapoor had cooked 918 kg of khichdi at 'World Food India' festival organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in Delhi.

Manoj Tiwari says BJP's rally has rattled AAP and Congress
Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari said the idea of bringing people together has rattled AAP and Congress. "The samrasta khichdi is meant for creating positive energy and well being of people, but it has rattled the AAP and the Congress," Tiwari said. BJP's SC Morcha, which organized the event, distributed 14 lakh pamphlets to collect items for khichdi and tell people about BJP's welfare programs.
