Nuh violence accused Bittu Bajrangi to contest Haryana polls
Bittu Bajrangi, also known as Rajkumar Panchal, a key figure in the Nuh violence case, has officially filed his nomination for the NIT assembly segment in Faridabad. The Haryana assembly elections are set for October 5. District Election Officer Vikram Singh confirmed the submission of Bajrangi's nomination as an independent candidate from the NIT Faridabad seat.
Cases against Bajrangi
Bajrangi, founder of the Gau Raksha Bajrang Force, has a history of controversies. He is accused in the Nuh violence case, which erupted in July last year following an attack on a Vishwa Hindu Parishad procession. The violence, which began on July 31, claimed five lives, including two home guards, and spread across Haryana, with incidents in Gurugram where a mosque's naib imam was killed. This July, three cases were also filed against Bajrangi in Faridabad.
Haryana polls postponed
To recall, the Haryana Assembly election, initially set for October 1, was postponed to October 5 after appeals from the Bishnoi community, who observe the Asoj Amavasya festival on October 2. The election commission revised the date to respect the Bishnoi community's tradition of honoring Guru Jambheshwar. Thousands of Bishnoi families from Sirsa, Fatehabad, and Hisar travel to Rajasthan for the festival, potentially missing their chance to vote. Vote counting will take place on October 8.
