Delhi Chief Minister Atishi resigned on Sunday after the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) defeat in the recent assembly elections.
She tendered her resignation to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.
The development clears the way for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form a government in Delhi after over 26 years, having won a majority with 48 seats out of 70.

In an emotional address, she said, "The war against BJP's dictatorship and hooliganism will continue."
She also thanked her supporters and said it wasn't a time to celebrate but to continue fighting against the BJP.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also addressed the public, conceding defeat and congratulating the BJP on their victory.
He hoped that the BJP would fulfill its promises to the people of Delhi.
Despite the loss, Kejriwal highlighted AAP's achievements in health, education, and infrastructure over the past decade and committed to playing a constructive opposition role.

The Delhi assembly elections had a voter turnout of 60.54% for the 70-member assembly.
The AAP has been decimated to 11 seats, while Congress couldn't win a single seat for the third consecutive election since 2015.
Atishi became Chief Minister of Delhi after Kejriwal resigned after getting bail in a corruption case involving Delhi's liquor policy.
