Kejriwal to move into new residence in Lutyens's Delhi today
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal is set to move into his new residence at 5 Ferozeshah Road in Lutyens's Delhi on Friday. The relocation comes days after he resigned as the chief minister of Delhi. The bungalow, located near the AAP headquarters, was officially allotted to Ashok Mittal, the party's Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab.
Kejriwal's new residence close to AAP headquarters
The bungalow is strategically located near the AAP headquarters at Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane (Canning Lane). Kejriwal had initially considered another property at 10 Feroz Shah Road, but ultimately chose Mittal's residence. "Kejriwal will move into 5, Ferozeshah Road residence of AAP MP from Punjab Ashok Mittal on Friday," AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj confirmed during a press conference.
Former deputy CM Sisodia also changes residence
Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has also relocated to a new residence on Rajendra Prasad Road. This property is the official residence of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh. On Thursday, Sisodia moved from AB-17 Mathura Road to 32, Rajendra Prasad Road near India Gate, a central government property allotted to Singh.
AAP leaders offer residences to Kejriwal post-resignation
Following Kejriwal's resignation as chief minister, several AAP leaders offered their residences for his use. These included MPs, MLAs, and councilors who were willing to accommodate him after he decided to leave his previous residence at 6 Flagstaff Road in north Delhi's Civil Lines. "When he (Kejriwal) resigned as the chief minister, I came to know that he had no place to stay...I invited him to be my guest at my Delhi residence," Mittal said in a video message.
Kejriwal's future plans amid upcoming Delhi polls
Kejriwal is expected to lead the AAP's campaign for the upcoming elections in Delhi and other states from his new residence. The AAP chief has represented the New Delhi constituency since 2013. His recent resignation as chief minister followed his release from Tihar Jail, where he was detained for over five months due to alleged involvement in an excise policy scam.
