Anantkumar Hegde: News
Born on May 20, 1968, Anantkumar Hegde is an Indian politician, a former Union Cabinet Minister, a BJP MP, and a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member. He joined RSS as a college student and was also an ABVP activist. As of 2021, he is a six-time Lok Sabha MP from the Uttara Kannada constituency of Karnataka. He first became a Lok Sabha member in 1996 from the Uttara Kannada constituency. Between 2017 and 2019, he was the Minister of State for Skill Development Entrepreneurship. Hegde is also the founder of the Kadamba group of organizations that works towards the upliftment of vulnerable sections of society. He is known for making controversial remarks. In 2017, he assaulted a doctor on camera, claiming the latter wrongly treated his mother. He made a controversial remark that the Taj Mahal was originally a Shiv Mandir known as Tejo Mahalaya. In 2019, he had called the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, ‘a hybrid product that can be manufactured only in Congress Laboratory,’ which sparked a huge controversy. The same year, he also made a controversial remark against women for entering Sabarimala Temple.
