Amritpal Singh's father announces plan to form political party
Father of Khadoor Sahib MP and 'Waris Punjab De' head Amritpal Singh, Tarsem Singh, has revealed that he's planning to launch a new political party. "We have prayed at the Akal Takht Sahib for the formation of a new party... Soon, we will consult scholars to design the party's structure and decide a name," Tarsem said. He shared that the new political party would be inclusive and would rise above religious and caste divides.
New party aims to address Punjab's issues
"It will be a party for all...Our focus will be on the issues facing Punjab, making it a regional party for everyone," he announced on the foundation day of 'Waris Punjab De.'. This comes two months after Sarabjit Singh Khalsa, an independent Lok Sabha election winner from Faridkot, revealed plans to form a party with Amritpal. Tarsem expressed his concern over Punjab's political situation, stating that there is no regional party to look after its interests.
Tarsem Singh criticizes Delhi-based parties
"The parties operating from Delhi are acting on the will of their top leadership. We have seen how leaders like Captain Amarinder Singh were removed in no time from the post of chief minister," Tarsem said. "Now, it seems similar things are happening with Bhagwant Mann," he added. When asked about rumors of a possible change in Punjab's leadership, Tarsem suggested that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) might replace Mann as chief minister.
Tarsem Singh predicts possible change in Punjab's leadership
"They will make any excuse, such as health issues, to remove Bhagwant and appoint new chief minister," he said. He lamented the state of political culture where none of the 92 MLAs would speak against such a decision. "While it is true that Bhagwant has made mistakes..., the command should remain in the hands of our own leaders. It shouldn't be that they can remove or appoint anyone...This is the reason we want to form a new party," he said.
