Amit Shah does a 'RaGa,' blames own candidate for corruption
An embarrassing moment ensued for BJP during Amit Shah's Bengaluru press-conference today. Targeting Congress, Shah said the "Yedyurappa government would win any competition for corruption." The problem? BS Yeddyurappa, who was sitting right there, is the BJP's CM candidate. Shah didn't realize his mistake till someone corrected him. Interestingly, this isn't even the first time he has mistakenly referred to Yeddyurappa and caused embarassment.

Here's what Shah said
Top Congress workers, including President Rahul Gandhi, Digital Communications Head Divya Spandana, and Siddaramaiah, Shah's actual target, himself didn't miss the chance to tweet the 9-second video, which quickly went viral. The BJP chief is heard saying that "if there was a competition for corruption, the Yeddyurappa government would come first." Upon being corrected, Shah immediately said he meant Siddaramaiah, incumbent Karnataka CM.
Congress leaders have a field day on Twitter
Rahul Gandhi called it the Congress' "top secret campaign video." "Gifted to us by the BJP President, our campaign in Karnataka is off to a fabulous start." "Who knew @AmitShah could also speak the truth- we all concur with you Amit ji," tweeted Divya Spandana. Siddaramaiah thanked Shah, but didn't let go of the opportunity to take a dig at the #ShahOfLies.
Not the first time this has happened!
Spandana added to the hilarity of the situation. She posted an undated video of Shah speaking about Karnataka's problems. He says people want to know where all the state's money is going when there's no development in infrastructure or agriculture. "Yedyurappa says the BJP government doesn't help in Karnataka's development...," he says, when someone is seen correcting him.

It was a rough day for the BJP
The EC announced the dates for the Karnataka elections today. Voting will take place on May 12 and counting on May 15. But it wasn't a good start for the BJP: Shah's gaffe was its second controversy today. In the morning, the party's IT Cell head Amit Malviya created a stir when he tweeted the election dates before the EC announced them.
