'Stop fooling people on statehood': Shah's message to Congress, NC
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a rally in Jammu on Saturday, asked the Congress and National Conference (NC) to "stop fooling people in the name of statehood." He stated that only the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have the power to restore statehood. "We have said that at an appropriate time after the election, we will give statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. We have said this in Parliament," he added.
Shah dismisses possibility of Congress-NC government
Shah also dismissed the possibility of a Congress-NC government in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that "no matter how much effort you put in, we will not let the reservation of Gujjars, Bakarwal, Paharis, and Dalits be touched." He also assured that there would be no talks with Pakistan. The home minister further described the upcoming assembly election as "historic," marking the first time J&K will vote under the tricolor following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

Shah accuses NC-Congress alliance of supporting separatists
Shah accused the NC-Congress alliance of intending to release separatists and terrorist sympathizers to destabilize Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that "NC-Cong and PDP want to push Jammu and Kashmir into the fire of terrorism." The home minister also highlighted the BJP's efforts in curbing terrorism, stating that "The Bharatiya Janata Party has done the work of reducing terrorism by 70% in 10 years."
Shah emphasizes on historic significance of upcoming election
Elections in J&K will be held in three phases. While the first phase of voting is slated for September 18, the remaining two rounds will be held on September 25 and October 1. "For the first time, voting will be held under the Constitution written by Babasaheb Ambedkar. There can't be two PMs in the country, there can only be one PM whom people of Kashmir to Kanyakumari elect and that is PM Modi," Shah added.
