UP Investors' Summit 2018: Yogi says UP shedding "BIMARU" tag
Lucknow is hosting the two-day Uttar Pradesh Investors' Summit, which is the first such event to be held by CM Yogi Adityanath's government. It showcases investment opportunities and potential across various sectors in UP. Yogi has personally overseen the preparations. What do India's top CEOs have to say?
Top Indian CEOs like Adani group's Gautam Adani and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, among others, attended the Summit. Ambani said that "PM Modi wants to make Uttar Pradesh 'Uttam Pradesh'." Lauding the government's Digital India and Namami Ganga initiatives, he announced that he would invest Rs. 10,000cr. Birla group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla plans to invest Rs. 25,000cr and Adani, Rs. 3,500cr.
Yogi: Due to Modi, UP reaches new heights of development
CM Yogi began his address by quoting the PM that there is no alternative to development. He proudly said, "UP has signed 1,045 pacts worth Rs. 4.28tn on the first day." He added that his government has worked hard to ensure law and order, better transportation and investment-friendly policies. He confidently announced that 40L jobs will be created in UP in the coming years.
Modi: Yogi brought a positive environment in the state
PM Modi first launched Nivesh mitra, an entrepreneur-friendly application that fastens digital clearances. Then, he congratulated Yogi for organizing this event at such a huge scale. He also lauded him for laying "the foundation of a new UP," devoid of the "atmosphere of fear." He commended the government's One District-One Product policy calling it a "game-changer" that will result in holistic development.
Modi also announced a Rs. 20,000cr defense corridor for Bundelkhand
PM Modi stated that two defense industrial corridors were announced in the Budget. He said one of them will be constructed in Bundelkhand region, one of the most backward regions of UP. The corridor will be extended to Agra, Aligarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi and Chitrakoot. Moreover, it will bring an investment of Rs. 20,000cr and generate employment for 2.5L people.
Other interesting facts about the Summit
Notably, over 5,000 delegates are attending and about 100 speakers will address the Summit. Representatives from Mauritius, Japan, the Netherlands, Finland, Czech Republic, Thailand and Slovakia are also participating. Further, Union ministers like Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan among others are attending this jamboree. Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the valedictory function tomorrow.
