Alka Lamba: News
Alka Lamba is an Indian National Congress (INC) politician from Delhi. She joined the INC's student wing, National Students' Union of India (NSUI), in college and became the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) President in 1995. She fought her first election on a Congress ticket in the 2003 Delhi Assembly polls but lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Madan Lal Khurana from the Moti Nagar constituency. She was a secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of the INC between 2007 and 2011. In 2014, Lamba left Congress to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and successfully contested the Delhi Assembly elections next year from the Chandni Chowk constituency. In 2019, however, due to internal disputes, she left AAP and returned to the Congress. She contested and lost the 2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections from the Chandni Chowk constituency to AAP's Parlad Singh Sawhney, coming a distant third.
