Sacked as Mayawati's heir, nephew Akash Anand's first reaction
In his first reaction after being removed as Bahujan Samaj Party national coordinator by party chief and his aunt Mayawati, Akash Anand on Thursday said that he will continue to fight for the "Bhim Mission" till his last breath. In a post on X, Anand called his aunt the BSP's "universally accepted leader" and said he would follow orders without question. "Mayawatiji...you are an ideal for the entire Bahujan Samaj...crores of countrymen worship you," he said.
Mayawati's reasoning behind Anand's dismissal
Earlier this week, Mayawati announced that she had relieved Anand of his party duties till he becomes "politically mature." The specifics behind this decision, which coincided with the third phase of voting in the Lok Sabha election 2024, were not disclosed. However, she emphasized that it was for the benefit of both the party and its cause. Anand Kumar, Mayawati's brother and Anand's father, will continue his role within the party as before.

Anand's legal trouble
Recently, Anand faced legal issues when he was implicated in a case of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for allegedly using inappropriate language at a poll rally in Sitapur. The district administration took independent action based on his speech. Anand was officially named as Mayawati's political heir in December last year during a gathering attended by party leaders nationwide, following his inaugural speech during the Lok Sabha campaign at Kothi Meena Bazar ground in Agra in April 2019.
