BJP hatching conspiracy to cut Delhi's water supply: Atishi
In the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi cabinet minister Atishi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of orchestrating a water crisis in the city. She alleged that the BJP, through its government in Haryana, has deliberately stopped the water supply to the national capital. "The BJP has been hatching conspiracies to target AAP ever since the Lok Sabha polls were announced," Atishi stated during a press conference.
AAP claims BJP's tactics aim to undermine campaign
Atishi further claimed that the alleged water crisis is part of a larger strategy by the BJP to undermine AAP's campaign efforts. She stated, "Within five days of the announcement of Lok Sabha polls...Kejriwal was arrested so that the AAP could not campaign in the polls." "After he came out on interim bail...they used Swati Maliwal to frame him," Atishi said. Maliwal has accused Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, of assaulting her at the CM's residence on May 13.
AAP warns of continued BJP tactics until May 25
Atishi warned that such tactics might continue until the Lok Sabha election in Delhi on May 25. "I want to warn the people of Delhi that in the coming days till May 25, more such things will happen. They will do this to manipulate voters. I want to tell BJP that you cannot fool the people of Delhi," she said. The allegations came after her department received complaints about water shortages from areas where such issues had not previously occurred.
AAP to seek Supreme Court intervention over water crisis
Atishi stated that her department would write to the Haryana government regarding the water crisis. If no action is taken, they plan to move an urgent application to the Supreme Court. She provided specific data on declining water levels in the Yamuna River as evidence for her claims. "On May 21, maybe for the first time in history, Yamuna's water level came down to 670.9 feet," she detailed.
