Heart transported from Surat to Mumbai via green corridor
The toddler had suffered a fall when he was playing; doctors subsequently declared him brain-dead in Surat. His heart was transported to Mumbai through a green corridor on a commercial flight, covering the 332km distance in one hour and 25 minutes. Dr. Anvay Mulay, Fortis Hospital's Head of Cardiac Transplant team, said the organ recipient was on a ventilator but would slowly start speaking.
Thankful to toddler's parents: Girl's mother
The organ recipient's mother, Pratibha Mule, said: "We are thankful to the parents of the toddler who donated his heart. She is still (in) unconscious state but is doing fine. We have been creating awareness through social media to get a heart for our daughter."
