Marine Lines or Bandra? No, Matunga Rd would be best
The Western Railway was toying with the idea of launching all-women crews at Marine Lines or Bandra stations.
Finally, they decided on Matunga Road station.
In July 2017, Matunga station became the first station in the country to be run by a team of 41 women.
This empowering move was even recognized by the Limca Book of World Records in January 2018.
Hail women!
On March 8, a woman will operate the Deccan Queen
To observe Women's day, Central Railway has a plan too.
"We'll have all-women staff on board the Deccan Queen, which covers Mumbai to Pune, on Thursday. Surekha Yadav is likely to operate the train," said SK Jain, divisional railway manger, CR.
A special counter will also be set up at Mumbai's CST station, where ladies will ask women commuters about their travel experiences.
