Woman seeks return of 56 pet cats from Bombay HC
A Pune based fashion designer has moved the Bombay High Court seeking the return of her 56 pet cats, that were allegedly taken away by vigilantes from her flat. The woman, Sangeeta Kapur, in her petition said that her flat was vandalized during seizure of the cats. She also claimed that she and her family were being harassed by police and animal welfare organizations.

According to Kapur, she has two apartments at Kondhwa Road where one of the apartments was just used to house the rescued cats. She alleged that on September 11, 2017, midnight a group of people claiming to be from animal welfare along with police officials broke into her apartment and took the cats away to an animal shelter.
Woman booked under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act
On their part, the animals activists have accused the woman of torturing animals and also for keeping the cats in unsanitary conditions. An offense under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act has also been lodged against the woman. The Bombay High Court bench comprising of Justices Bhushan Gavai and Burgess Colabawalla has scheduled the matter for hearing on January 18.
