Mumbai: Thane residents can file pothole complaints using app
What's the story
Thane Municipal Corporation will formally restart pothole application, Star Grade, next week enabling residents to file complaints related to potholes online.
The residents can click pothole's picture and upload it on the app. Since the app is backed by GPS, pothole's location gets automatically traced.
The app, launched two years ago, had gained popularity especially during monsoons.

Mumbai University
Mumbai University set to miss July 31 deadline
Maharashtra education minister Vinod Tawde will meet governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to discuss the delay in Mumbai University's results declaration of 427 examinations as well as dismissal of vice-chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh.
The results have been delayed by three months. With just 2 days left now, there are still 3.35 lakh papers left to be corrected.
A probe into results' delay has been initiated.
Slum Rehabilitation
SRA to digitize proposal tracking, plot allotment to slum dwellers
In order to bring in more transparency and speed, the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) plans to digitize the entire system from developers applying a scheme to plot allotment to eligible slumdwellers.
SRA has invited e-tenders for the establishment of web portals. SRA will go online in 26 weeks.
A mobile app for online tracking is also being considered.
Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis monitoring to be increased in 70 areas in Mumbai
With 35,000-40,000 people getting diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) every year, BMC constituted a team of 374 health officers who will conduct door-to-door surveys and identify patients in 70 vulnerable areas.
The initiative will locate patients who withdrew treatment or haven't been diagnosed yet.
This initiative aims to contain the disease. 4,347 cases of multiple drug resistance TB were reported last year.
Kandivali
Homemaker hangs herself out of depression at her home
40-year-old Neelima Goyal killed herself by hanging from ceiling fan at her flat in Kandivali. Her husband and daughter were not at home when the incident happened.
According to her suicide note, she holds nobody accountable for the extreme step. The incident came to light when her daughter returned home.
She couldn't open the bedroom door and called the cops then.
Marol
Traffic restrictions imposed in Marol for station construction
An order stating traffic restrictions until July 31 has been issued in Marol due to construction of Metro-3 station there.
Motorists have been advised to plan their commutes accordingly.
According to the order, it is going to be one-way route from Marol Naka to Lok Bharti junction.
Parking of vehicles will not be allowed at Marol-Maroshi Road, Military Road, Lok Bharti junction etc.
