Mumbai: Woman's body found inside suitcase in Kurla, probe launched
In a shocking incident, the dead body of a woman was reportedly found stuffed in a suitcase in the Kurla area of Mumbai on Sunday. Reportedly, the body was discovered at around 12:30pm on Sunday, after the Mumbai Police was informed about an abandoned suitcase lying on the CST Road in Shanti Nagar of Central Mumbai. The suitcase was found near a metro railway construction site.
Victim's identitity yet to be ascertained, cops reviewing CCTV footage
While the identity of the deceased has not been discovered yet, the police sent the woman's body to a civic hospital for a detailed autopsy. The police said the victim was wearing track pants and a T-shirt. Based on preliminary observations, the cops said the woman could be aged between 25 and 30 years. For more evidence, the police are also reviewing the footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the locality.
Police register murder case in matter
Meanwhile, the police officials also confirmed that a case had been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Furthermore, a search operation is also underway to catch the killer. On the other hand, the Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch unit are also probing the matter. However, no arrests have been made in the case so far.
Similar case reported in Mumbai's Wadala in October
This development comes less than a month after the Mumbai Police recovered the half-burnt body of a woman from the financial capital's Wadala area on October 27. Similar to the Sunday incident, the police had said that the half-burnt body of the victim was found inside a suspicious bag. A murder case was registered against an unknown accused in the matter, and a probe was launched.
