Mumbai: Versova-Bandra Sea Link renamed as Veer Savarkar Setu

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday renamed the two major infrastructure projects in Mumbai after Indian political leaders Vinayak Damodar Savarkar (Veer Savarkar) and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, reported ANI.
The Versova-Bandra Sea Link has been renamed as Veer Savarkar Setu, while the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Road will now be called Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smruti Nhava Sheva Atal Setu.

CM Shinde made announcement on May 28
The official announcement comes a month after Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the Bandra-Versova Sea Link would be renamed after Savarkar.
He made the announcement on the 140th birth anniversary of Savarkar, which falls on May 28.
Notably, on March 16, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis wrote a letter to Shinde requesting him to rename the two infrastructure projects in Mumbai.
