Mumbai's first AC local train makes maiden journey
Mumbai's first air-conditioned local train made a historical maiden journey this morning from Borivali station to Churchgate station. The AC local train will now be operated on an experimental basis from Borivali station to Churchgate station till 29th December with only 6 services per day, before being regularized in 2018. Details about the AC local train service
The AC local train will run on the Churchgate-Borivali route for this year, and the service will be extended to Churchgate-Virar from 1st January with 12 services daily. It'll have stops at Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Borivali, Bhayander and Vasai Road. Two coaches will be reserved for ladies, and exclusive seats for senior citizens also exist.
Monthly, fortnightly and weekly passes available
Monthly, fortnightly, and weekly passes for the AC local train are being offered at discounted rates. The discounted price is 1.2 times the first class ticket fare, and is set to go up to 1.3 times after six months. Those with existing first class tickets/passes cannot use the AC local, but those with AC tickets/passes can travel first class if they so choose.
Pricing for tickets and passes for the AC local
Passengers have been given the option of buying daily tickets. The Churchgate-Borivali weekly, fortnightly, and monthly passes will cost Rs. 855, Rs. 1,245, and Rs. 1,640 respectively. The Churchgate-Virar weekly, fortnightly, and monthly passes will cost Rs. 1,070, Rs. 1,555, and Rs. 2,040 respectively. Detailed fares for all destinations can be found here.
