Mumbai to Pune in 20mins: Hyperloop will make this happen
Soon, the travel time between Mumbai and Pune will be cut down to just 20 minutes from the current three hours. This would be made possible by building a hyperloop transportation system. According to reports, the Virgin Group signed an "intent agreement" with Maharashtra government to build the system between the two mega cities. Here's all about it.
India to get World's first hyperloop built in Maharashtra
The foundation stone for the first hyperloop route to link Central Pune with the megapolis as well as the Navi Mumbai international airport was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last evening. With Maharashtra signing the agreement, India will become the first country in the world to host the high-speed travel system. The loop will be able to ferry 150 million passengers every year.
The project will create thousands of jobs
The agreement was signed on the first day of the Magnetic Maharashtra investor summit, where Virgin Group chairman Richard Branson said, "The proposed hyperlook transportation system will transform the transportation system and make Maharashtra a global pioneer in the space." Claiming that the project will create thousands of jobs, Branson added, "The socioeconomic benefits of the project is $55 billion."
Project to start after six months of in-depth study
The details about the project cost and time are yet to be announced. The proposed hyperloop route project will completely be an electric system and will have the capability to travel up to 1,000 km/hour. The project is set to begin within six months after an in-depth study of route alignment, environmental impact, economic and commercial viability, cost and funding of the project.
