Mumbai- No more overpaying for 31 common medicines
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) put a price cap on 31 common drugs like glucose, morphine, paracetamol, ibuprofen and snake venom antiserum. NPPA wants to include as many medicines as possible under the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) to stop artificial shortage or inflation in the future. SEBI officer robbed of Rs. 10,000 after sharing bank details
A senior officer from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) was scammed by a bank 'telecaller' and threatened that his debit card would be blocked for not having updated his KYC (Know Your Customer) details. The officer shared his bank details with the telecaller and lost Rs. 10,000 after that. The 32-year-old General Manager's account was used to make two shopping transactions.
11 South Bombay properties penalized for selling water to tankers
On the basis of a tip-off received from RTI activist SKP Dhoka, the BEST administration levied a fine of Rs. 18 lakh on 11 of South Mumbai's residential and charity establishments. This was done because these properties were allowing water tankers to use their water pump to refill and supply water to surrounding neighbourhoods. Most cases were from Kalbadevi and Dhobi Talao.
Government floats packaged food plan for malnourished kids
Maharashtra's Woman and Child Development Department has floated a Rs. 100 crore scheme for combating malnourishment across Maharashtra's rural districts. This scheme visualizes feeding children a pre-packed nutritious paste, three times a day for 72 days. It was floated to avoid a Palghar-like situation of malnutrition-related deaths. According to a senior state official, the state's 1.08 lakh anganwadis would be excluded from the scheme.

Following the traffic police department's suggestion, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) set up large girders with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (APNR) cameras on the central divider of the Marine Drive stretch. The traffic police plans to do the same in various parts of the city. Locals are happy with this development due to increasing cases of over-speeding and rash riding.
SC firm on removal of encroachments from Haji Ali
On 25th May, the Supreme Court rejected a plea by the shop owners of Mumbai's Haji Ali Dargah for modifying its order of making the premises encroachment-free. The Dargah Trust had been asked to get rid of the encroachments by 30th May or face removal from a joint task force. The encroachers have until 6th June to comply with the order of the SC.
