    Maharashtra- HSC results to be declared today

    What's the story

    The results of the Class 12 Maharashtra state board exams are set to be declared by 1 pm today.

    The Higher Secondary Certificate examinations were attempted by over 15 lakh students across Maharashtra.

    Students can log on to www.mahresult.nic.in, and Vodafone, Idea, Reliance, Tata and BSNL users can send 'MAH12(SPACE)(ROLL NUMBER)' to 58888111 to check their results.

    Beef Ban

    Meat prices could rise owing to curb on cattle slaughter

    The Centre's most recent decision of including buffalo meat in the ban of sale of cattle for slaughter has created fears that the prices of chicken and mutton could rise if the same happens.

    According to cattle and buffalo meat traders, the decision, if finalized, would also result in unemployment for many.

    The notification is also likely to affect the Muslims and Dalits most.

    Mumbai's river will be cleaned by floating island of plants

    Members of River March, a group aiming to revive four of Mumbai's rivers-Poisar, Oshiwara, Mithi and Dahisar on 28th May placed a 25-square-feet floating island made of plants in Poisar river as an experiment to clean the polluted water body.

    The plants were uprooted from construction site reserved for the Metro rail in Andheri and were placed in 500 discarded plastic bottles.

    BMC's parking policy draws 90% revenue

    The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's parking policy has managed to earn 90% more in its first month of implementation than it received every month in the last financial year.

    The parking policy was implemented at 18 of South Mumbai's spots since 1st April.

    The civic body collected Rs. 40.5 lakh in April 2017, compared to its average collection of Rs. 21 lakh.

    Strike

    Mumbai's chemists to remain shut today

    Over 6,000 chemists in Mumbai will have their shutters down today, as part of the protest called by the All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD).

    The strike has been called against the stringent guidelines set by the health ministry for the sale of medicines through an e-portal.

    The government's e-portal proposes to track the sale of drugs from manufacturers to retailers.

    Roads

    BMC makes ward officers responsible for potholes

    Chief of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Ajoy Mehta has directed all assistant civic commissioners to provide an undertaking that roads being resurfaced for potholes this year would not face craters like the year before.

    This is the first time ward officers have had to submit such an undertaking.

    The BMC has decided to continue with road works till 3rd June.
