Mumbai: Motorcycle racket busted, all racketeers arrested
Mumbai cops have busted a motorcycle racket operating between Alibaug and Mumbai, by arresting all of its members within ten days. The latest arrest took place on April 23, when two men were detained. The other five gang-members, including a minor, were arrested ten days ago. They reportedly stole KTM and Pulsar-220 bikes, a rage among youths, and sold them for anywhere between Rs. 15,000-25,000.
The minor was the first one to be apprehended
Acting on a tip-off, Alibaug cops apprehended a 17-year-old college student, who had a bike with him. When asked to show documents, he broke down and revealed about the racket, which led to the arrest of five others. Upon interrogation, the minor spilled two other names, Aamir Khalil Ansari, 22 and Rohit Saroj 27, who operated from Mumbai.
It was the minor who roped in the Mumbai duo
He said that he had met them during a bike race in Wadala, where the trio had discussed the prospects of the racket. Ansari and Saroj were arrested on April 23, and are now in Dadar police custody. A total of 19 KTM and Pulsar motorcycles were seized from the accused. Cops said they stole only those two models since they are youths' favorites.
