Mumbai man kills live-in-partner; chops, boils her body in cooker
A 56-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly killing his live-in partner and chopping her dead body into pieces at his rented flat in Mira Road, Mumbai. The police also disclosed that the accused man chopped the body of his live-in partner with a tree cutter and then boiled her in a cooker.
Details on victim and accused
Identified as Manoj Sane, the 56-year-old accused ran a small shop in Boriwali and had been staying with Saraswati Vaidya, the 32-year-old victim, in flat 704 at the Geeta Akash Deep building for the past three years. On Wednesday, the Nayanagar Police Station received a complaint from the apartment residents about a nasty smell emanating from the flat.
Here's what police said on incident
"The couple had a fight over some matter following which the woman was murdered by her partner," Mumbai's Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jayant Bajbale said. "When we reached the house and opened the door, we understood it was a case of murder and the suspect tried to hide the evidence. Further investigation is underway," Bajbale added.
Some of victim's body parts are missing: Police
According to the news outlet India Today, the decomposing body parts found in the apartment led to a hunch that the victim might have been killed about three to four days ago. A police official from the Nayanagar Police Station also revealed that some body parts were missing, and the suspicion is that Sane had dumped them somewhere.
FIR will be filed against accused Sane: Police
Reportedly, the police is currently in the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) against Sane for murder and destruction of proof. Residents of the apartment also informed the cops that the couple didn't interact with them and the door of their flat doesn't have a nameplate. It is allegedly enlisted in the name of Sonam Builders, they added.
Eerie similarities to Shraddha Walkar murder case
The heinous murder bears a disturbing resemblance to Shraddha Walkar's murder by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawalla in May of last year. Poonawala chopped Walkar's dead body into small pieces and kept them in a refrigerator for nearly a month at his rented apartment in South Delhi's Mehrauli before dispersing them at different locations in the national capital.
