Mumbai man kills self after being forced to lick spit
A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself after four people assaulted him and also forced him to lick sputum from a shoe. The deceased, Kasim Shaikh, was a 35-year-old vegetable vendor. The police said that he was attacked in public by the four men at a market in South Mumbai's Cuffe Parade area on Friday night over some personal enmity.
Unable to bear humiliation, Shaikh hanged himself at his residence
Shaikh left behind a suicide note blaming the four men, following which they have been arrested. The accused have been booked for abetment of suicide. Police said that the accused men are residents of slums in Cuffe Parade. The men allegedly assaulted Shaikh on Friday and he hanged himself at his residence on Saturday morning as he was not able to bear the humiliation.
Shaikh was helping his brother with his vegetable stall
Shaikh was helping his brother Iqbal shut their vegetable stall when the four accused and two others picked up a fight with Shaikh. When Shaikh's brother, Iqbal, intervened, the men started to beat up Iqbal, following which the Shaikh brothers lodged a police complaint against the men for assaulting and humiliating them. However, next morning Shaikh's nephew found him hanging from the ceiling.
